The 08-09 season saw a new look to West Bridgford’s ‘Mini Colts’ section, with the launch of our new Saturday morning club. Kicking off at the start of November 08, it was an instant success – the kids loved the football, whatever the weather, and the parents appreciated hot drinks on tap at the Regatta Way club house as temperatures plummeted through the winter!

Experienced WBC coaches, headed up by Club Sec Ian Hirst and Level 2 qualified Nick Gordon Brown, have overseen Saturday mornings, with dozens of U5 & U6 kids joining up. A partnership has been developed with local youth coaching specialists Excel Sports Coaching, who provide well qualified coaches weekly. Through this system, not only are the kids offered a uniformly high standard of coaching, but also the volunteer parents who are the lifeblood of the club can take their first steps into coaching themselves with help from their more experienced counterparts.

As these age groups move up to U6 & U7 next season, they will stay at Regatta Way, and be joined by a new U5 group, and a new mini colts girls section. As a result, we are expecting in excess of 100 kids at Regatta Way every Saturday morning next season, all of them receiving quality coaching, with the club’s next generation of managers and coaches perfecting their trade alongside them.
